Chief Executive Officer of the National Entrepreneurship and Innovation Programme (NEIP), Eric Adjei, has taken legal action against the Editor of Daybreak Newspaper, Prince Prah, demanding GH¢5 million in damages over what he describes as defamatory publications.
The suit, filed at the High Court in Accra on November 24, 2025, concerns two stories published by Daybreak under the headlines “Is Eric Adjei in charge of NEIP?” and “Coming Up: Visa Racketeering Scandal Hits NEIP.” The publications reportedly featured his photograph and identified him as the head of NEIP.
According to the writ, Mr. Adjei believes the articles were crafted to harm his reputation and suggest that he was involved in wrongdoing. He insists the claims are untrue and have subjected him to public ridicule.
He is asking the court to declare the publications defamatory and to order their removal from all print, online, and social media platforms operated by the defendant. He is also seeking a full retraction and an apology.
The NEIP CEO further wants a perpetual injunction to stop the newspaper’s editor and his associates from publishing similar material in the future. The suit also requests that the defendant be compelled to sign an undertaking not to repeat any such conduct.
Aside from the GH¢5 million general damages, Mr. Adjei is demanding aggravated and exemplary damages, arguing that the publications were made maliciously, and that the defendant has refused to withdraw or apologise for them. He also seeks legal costs and interest on any awarded compensation.
The case is yet to be heard by the court.
