Team Ghana Departs for the First West Africa Para Games in Abeokuta Nigeria

Team Ghana departs today for Abeokuta in Ogun State, Nigeria, to participate in the historic first West Africa Para Games – Zones A and B. The delegation leaves Accra on 26 November 2025, ahead of the official Opening Ceremony on 28 November. The Games will run until December 3, 2025, coinciding with the global celebration of International Day of Persons with Disabilities.

The National Paralympic Committee (NPC) Ghana has confirmed the nation’s full contingent. The team includes athletes, coaches, medical staff, media personnel, and officials who will proudly represent Ghana across ten Para sporting disciplines.

Ahead of departure, the NPC instructed all athletes and officials to report to the Secretariat by 4:00 PM today. Everyone must bring a valid passport or national ID card. Federations with athletes traveling from outside Accra were reminded to arrange transport to ensure timely arrival.

Team Ghana’s participation reflects a renewed commitment to advancing Para sports. It also broadens athlete pathways and highlights Ghana’s rising competitiveness within the West African and continental Paralympic movement.

NPC Ghana President Samson Deen said the team is fully ready for the event. He added that the delegation carries the hopes of Ghana and the pride of the African Paralympic family. He also noted that Ghana’s wide representation in many disciplines shows the country’s steady investment in sports that welcome every athlete.

Team Ghana will go through accreditation, classification, and final training sessions when they arrive in Abeokuta. These steps will prepare them for the official start of the Games.
