The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association says prices have begun to fall and could continue to decline through the end of the year.
The trend follows recent meetings led by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, with leaders of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), spare parts dealers and transport operators. The talks focused on tackling price irregularities and the sharp increases recorded in recent months.
Speaking to Citi News on Monday, November 24, the association’s Head of Communications, Takyi Addo, said a meeting with importers and retailers is planned for this week to push for more reductions that could stretch into 2026.
“Some prices have already come down, but there’s still more room. The reductions we expect aren’t fully visible yet. From now to the end of the year, more prices will fall, and in 2026, we’re looking at an additional 9.9 percent reduction in our surplus industry,” he said.
He noted that the association is working with retailers and stepping up engagement with importers, pointing out that retailers form the bulk of market players while importers are relatively few.
