The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources, together with senior officers of the Ghana Armed Forces, has visited the family of Private Sarfo Agyapong, the NAIMOS officer who died in a road crash while returning from an operation in the Ashanti Region.

Private Agyapong lost his life late Wednesday during the team’s return from Anyankyerim, where they had carried out an operation at a mining concession reportedly taken over by illegal miners. The officers were en route to Obuasi when the accident occurred.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, led the delegation to the family home at Afuaman in the Greater Accra Region on Friday, November 21. He conveyed the president’s condolences and assured the family that the state will support them.

He described Private Agyapong as a national hero who died while protecting the country’s natural resources.

Chief of the Army Staff, Major General Lawrence Kwaku Gbetanu, also offered his sympathies and said the Ghana Armed Forces will ensure the late soldier is given full military honours.

He added that preparations for the burial will follow established military customs and the family will be guided through the process.
