Wassa Amenfi Central, Western Region – November 2, 2025:
The Member of Parliament for Wassa Amenfi Central, Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe, has embarked on an ambitious water supply initiative aimed at addressing persistent water challenges confronting communities within her constituency.
The project, which is already underway, involves the drilling and installation of 30 new boreholes fitted with modern hand pumps to ensure a steady and sustainable supply of clean drinking water. This marks a significant step toward improving public health and living conditions for residents in the area.
According to Hon. Gyan Cudjoe, access to safe drinking water is a basic human right and a foundation for socio-economic development. She noted that many communities in Amenfi Central have long battled water scarcity, compounded by seasonal droughts, the effects of climate change, and contamination of local water sources.
“This initiative is in direct response to the concerns raised by residents and community leaders during our engagements. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that every household has access to clean and safe water,” the MP stated.
The first 30 beneficiary communities include Agona Amenfi, Juabo, Bonsie, Anakum Dominase, Dwrigum D/A School, Nyamebekyere Nos. 1 & 2, and Amuni, among others. The projects are expected to be completed in phases, providing immediate relief to thousands of residents across the constituency.
Community leaders have lauded the MP’s intervention, describing it as timely and life-changing, particularly for women and children who often bear the burden of traveling long distances in search of water.
The initiative forms part of Hon. Joana Gyan Cudjoe’s broader development agenda to promote health, education, and infrastructure in Amenfi Central.
